Just checking in with no particular topic in mind to write about tonight. I made a commitment to write a blog post every day this year because it helps keep me accountable to a transformation that is very important to me to accomplish, keeps me learning more about the plant-based lifestyle, keeps me writing which is something I love to do, and maybe I'll post something that will help someone on their plant-based and wellness journey. I really have no other agenda than that. I doubt I have many readers at this point, but my hope is that the blog will grow to help other people who want to transition away from the SAD lifestyle to a plant-based lifestyle so that we all have the good health and energy to experience a life well lived instead of sitting out of the game and watching from the sidelines.
I went to the doctor a couple days ago because I got a UTI from out of nowhere a few days before Christmas. I tried all the holistic methods I could find to get rid of it, but it kept coming back. I learned my lesson about putting off medical care when I had abscessed diverticulitis a few years ago and spent a year recovering from it. I'll post more about that sometime. But, with this UTI, I am convinced it was diet related which is just another nail in the coffin of the junk food lifestyle. I'm beyond tired of giving up my health for a few minutes of pleasure derived from addictive foods and drinks. It's just not worth it.
So, ten days into my whole-food, plant-based, unprocessed journey and I'm still staying strong. No chips, fries, pizza, pasta, cake, cookies, candy, sweet tea, mocha frappes, wine coolers, Morning Star, Boca, Amy's, etc. and I don't feel deprived. In fact, I feel empowered and in control of my destiny!

P.S. When I weighed in at the doctor's office, I was down 5 lbs. I'm only weighing in and measuring once a month because I want to focus on healing my body and increasing my energy, not weight. Still, it's nice to see the scales moving in the right direction. I will post stats the first of every month. Stay tuned!
