Eat Your Vegetables

Did you hear "Eat your vegetables" when you were growing up? I don't remember being told to eat anything. I belonged to the clean your plate club! Well, there was ONE vegetable I remember refusing to eat and that was sweet potatoes. I tasted them and didn't like it even with brown sugar and marshmallows on top which is surprising to me as an adult because I've always had a sweet tooth and favored sweet flavors over sour or spicy.

I was probably 8 or 9 and visiting my aunt's house one day when she was serving sweet potatoes. I told her that I hate sweet potatoes and that they were gross. She said that I was probably talking about candied yams and that I should try it the way she made it which was baked with some butter on it. I refused. She insisted. I plugged my nose and ate a few bites. It didn't help.I vomited and haven't eaten sweet potatoes since!

Now that I'm older and somewhat wiser, I may give them a try sometime. I'll probably still plug my nose!

Sweet Potato Pizza? I would have never thought of that. I love pizza! Now I'm curious. I think I'll try this recipe!
