New Recipe: Spicy Sweet Vegan Salad Dressing
I was going by memory to make Chef AJ's roasted brussel sprouts and stumbled on this delicious tasting mixture that I thought would taste good on a salad so I tried it and it is yummy! I would eat more salads if I could find good salad dressings because as much as I love vegetables, I just can't bring myself to eat salad plain. I usually use salsa, but sometimes that gets boring. Now, I have an alternative to use and it has a sweet flavor that I like without adding SOS - sugar, oil or salt.
It's quick and easy to make. Just mix together 1/4 cup of maple syrup, 1 tablespoon of spicy brown mustard, and 1 tablespoon of tamari. That's it! It's sweet, If you want it a little less sweet just use less maple syrup or it you like it with a little more kick, use more spicy mustard.
I poured the mixture into a bowl and stirred to coat the brussel sprouts. I was also curious to see how it tasted on cauliflower. It's delicious!
When I made the roasted brussel sprouts the first time, it made a sticky mess on my baking pan, so this time I lined it with aluminum foil. I put some aluminum foil on top this time to see if it held more of the flavor in. It was good, but it steamed the food rather than roast it. So, I took the aluminum foil off and it crisped right up.
So, it's a versatile mix that you can use as a salad dressing or to roast veggies. I love discovering quick and easy recipes!
